Trestle tables are basic tables used in many commercial applications from catering for a buffet or banquet at a hotel to dining in a community hall or sports club. These simple tables are multipurpose with easy to wipe clean surfaces and folding legs for storage.

Why are they called trestle tables?

The original trestle tables were made up of a simple table top and two trestle legs. The legs fold out, in a similar way to a ladder. They form an A-shape and the table top rests on the top of the ‘A’. Trestle legs often had rope or crossbars between them to stop the table from collapsing. The legs could be placed wherever required; at the extreme edges of the table or slight in from the edge. Trestle tables are back in fashion for weddings and especially outdoor weddings.

6ft trestle tables

6ft trestle tables are the standard trestle table size. The tables can then be set up in a long line to form a banquet table with guests seated either side of the table. Smaller 4ft tables and longer 8ft tables are also popular sizes.

Trestle table legs

The frames for our trestle tables are made of aluminium or steel. The benefit of aluminium frames is that aluminium can be recycled after use. It is also a lightweight material. This means that our Alu-Lite tables can be lifted by one staff member as they fall within the guidelines for lifting.

Aluminium frames are hard-wearing and anti-corrosive so they can be used indoors or outdoors. This is helpful when venues want to hold parties and events outdoors during the summer and want to use the same tables indoors when the weather is cold & wet. The table legs have nylon feet that prevent damage to wooden floors, when used indoors.

Trestle tables are also available with T-Bar legs that means there are no corner legs to get in the way of guests feet while they are sitting at the table. T-Bar legs have feet to protect wooden floors.

Alu-Lite trestle tables are topped with easy to wipe clean, hygienic laminate surfaces that can have a wooden finish. The frames have nylon flush fit corners that provide protection for the table when it is being moved around between function rooms or moved into storage.

Folding trestle tables

Folding trestle tables are useful for busy hotels and event venues. They can be folded flat between use and that makes them easy to stack and transport on a table trolley between functions rooms and storage facilities. The nylon corners on Alu-Lite tables have a stacking buffer to prevent surface damage to tables while they are being transported.

Folding trestle tables have a locking mechanism to ensure that the table legs are stable during food service and dining. They are quick and easy to set up in large numbers when there is a big event like a banquet.
